The Lighthouse
Made in 3 hrs while packing to move.
This project was a challenge in 3 parts.
First coming up with an idea that was easy and still engaging was a hard task for me. Other games in the competition were more gamey and my ideas were mostly story/narrative.
Once I had an idea it became a hassle to figure out the right engine. I wanted to make this game in Gbstudio but with my lack of familiarity, it wouldn't happen in such a short time. Then, I tried Gdevelop and ended up with a platformer which again wasn't my preferred idea. I came around to RPGMakerMV due in part to being able to import a chipset for the retro aesthetic I like and also for ease of use.
Once I started making the project I then felt the time constraints for narrative construction. I feel the narrative is a bit too ambiguous but time restriction limited my ability to really expand it and event it properly along with asset compiling.
That said, then end product is a finished work in the time provided which is something I'm more than proud of because my goal for this year is to make more games. I learned how to get the game functioning. I do have some quibbles but what's done is done.
We're on to the next.
